Remote (Africa)ContractData Operations
Contract

🚀 Your language is valuable. Get paid for it.

The world's most powerful AI systems still can't properly understand the languages spoken across Africa. We're changing that, and we need fluent speakers to do it.

📌 About DataLens Africa

At DataLens Africa, we build the high-quality language data that teaches AI to read, write, reason, and respond in African languages. We work with machine learning researchers, global health organisations, telcos, and foundation model companies who need data that reflects how people actually speak.

🎯 Your Role as a Data Annotation Specialist

As an African Language AI Specialist, you'll earn by putting your native or fluent language knowledge to work — no prior tech experience required.

  • Create, translate, and transcribe text in the African language(s) you're fluent in
  • Rate and rank AI model responses to help models learn what "good" sounds like in your language
  • Review and validate content for accuracy, tone, and cultural context
  • Flag the nuances — idioms, dialect, context — that AI systems routinely miss
  • (For experienced specialists) Quality-check the work of other contributors

🛠 What We're Looking For

  • Native or fluent speaker of one or more supported African languages (see below)
  • Strong reading and writing ability in that language
  • Good attention to detail and a careful, consistent approach
  • Reliable internet access and a smartphone or laptop
  • No prior experience required for entry-level work
  • Bonus: background in translation, linguistics, teaching, journalism, or content writing

🌟 Why Join DataLens Africa?

  • Earn from your language: get paid per project, with work matched to the languages you speak
  • Work flexibly: remote, on your own schedule, from anywhere in Africa, on a laptop or smartphone
  • Build real AI skills: gain hands-on experience in data annotation and AI evaluation — a fast-growing global field
  • Grow with us: strong contributors move into QA reviewer and project lead roles
  • Do work that matters: help build AI that finally understands your community
